Sumter man, 36, wanted after non-fatal shooting

The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office seeks the public’s help in locating a man wanted in connection to a shooting on April 15.

According to Mark Bordeaux, public information officer, Brian Michael Butler, 36, of Sumter, is reportedly wanted for discharging a firearm into a Zachary Road dwelling. One shot was fired using a shotgun into the home where the victim lives, Bordeaux said.

Butler faces charges of discharging firearms into a dwelling, Bordeaux said. He is 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs 163 pounds. He has brown eyes and brown hair.

Anyone who knows Butler’s whereabouts is asked to call 911.
