Sumter High School running back Nathan Harris-Waynick has received and accepted a preferred walk-on offer from new South Carolina football head coach Shane Beamer.

"It means everything," said Harris-Waynick, who rushed for over 1,000 yards for the Gamecocks, who went 8-1 and reached the 5A state semifinals this past season. "It's a great school, has the best facilities. It's a blessing."

Harris-Waynick rushed 1,168 yards and 18 touchdowns on 193 carries. He averaged 146.0 yards a game and 6.1 yards a carry. Harris-Waynick also had four catches for 46 yards.

Harris-Waynick received a telephone call from Beamer on Monday extending the offer. In a Twitter post, Harris-Waynick said he has been accepted academically at USC and will enroll for the spring semester.
