The Sumter County Coroner’s Office and Sumter County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the Windsor City Mobile Home Park on Thursday morning.
Cornelius Dwyer, 39, of Picardy Drive, was pronounced dead on scene from an apparent gunshot wound, according to Sumter County Coroner Robbie Baker.
Someone inside a residence reportedly shot Dwyer in the process of him trying to enter, according to Deputy Adrienne Sarvis, public information officer for the sheriff's office.  Preliminary reports from the sheriff's office claim a woman there had a restraining order against him.
The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the case, and it has not been determined whether the shooting was in self-defense, Sarvis said.
Next of kin has been notified, and an autopsy will be performed at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
