The Sumter County Coroner's Office released the identity of a man who drowned at Quioxte Club Wednesday.

Anastaeio Balerio Garcia, 40, was recovered from approximately 8 feet of water in the pond located on the golf course, said Sumter County Coroner Robbie Baker. His body was found with a submerged golf cart that appeared to have run off a path into the pond.

According to Baker, Garcia was an independent contractor with a company hired by Quixote, a newly redeveloped course and clubhouse on Golfcrest Road.

Next of kin has been notified, and an autopsy will be performed Friday morning at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.

The Sumter Police Department and the Sumter County Coroner’s Office is investigating.
