Sumter celebrates Small Business Week

On Monday, the Greater Sumter Chamber of Commerce, Sumter Mayor David Merchant and Sumter County Council Chairman James McCain proclaimed May 6-10, 2024, as Small Business Week in Sumter. According to the city's Facebook page, "National Small Business Week annually recognizes the contributions of small business owners and celebrates their ingenuity and dedication. From the storefront shops that anchor Main Street to the high-tech startups that keep Sumter's economy moving forward, small businesses are the backbone of our economy and the cornerstones of our community's promise. The City of Sumter and Sumter County support and join in the Chamber of Commerce's effort to help Sumter's small businesses do what they do best - grow their businesses, create jobs and ensure that our community remains as vibrant tomorrow as they are today."
