Sumter bicyclist dies from injuries after being struck by 2 vehicles Friday, Oct. 3

A Sumter man was pronounced dead on scene after he was struck by two vehicles while riding a bicycle on Friday night, Oct. 3.

According to Sumter County Coroner Robbie Baker in a news release on Saturday afternoon, Wesley McCray, 50, was traveling on McCrays Mill Road and Cook Street when he was hit about 7:30 p.m. He died from his injuries on the scene.

An autopsy will be performed on Tuesday, Oct. 7, at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. 

Next of kin has been notified, and Sumter County Sheriff's Office and Sumter Police Department are investigating.
