Sumter basketball dominant in blowout wins over St. James

The Sumter boys and girls basketball teams each crushed St. James on Tuesday, holding their opponents under 20 points on the night.

The girls opened with 65-12 thrashing. St. James scored six points in the first quarter before scoring just one basket in each of the remaining quarter. Sumter, meanwhile, sprinted to a 33-8 lead at the half to coast to the win.

Kiara Croskey scored 21 points in win, while Keziyah Sanders added 19. Rickell Brown, Dalasia Brunson and Alicia Spann each added eight points in the runaway win.

The boys contest wasn't much more competitive. St. James managed just five points before halftime, as Sumter sprinted out to a 34-10 lead at the break on the way to a 52-18 win.

A total of 10 Gamecocks scored in the victory. Caleb Jenkins led the balanced scoring attack with nine points, adding seven steals and two assists. Ahmari Samuel scored eight points, chipping in with another four steals, two rebounds and an assist. As a team, Sumter finished with 22 steals in the win.
