Jim Jones of Jones Chevrolet-Cadillac and Jones Buick-GMC in Sumter has been elected president of the South Carolina Automobile Dealers Association for 2019-2020.

Jones was elected at SCADA's Annual Dealer Meeting on May 18, and his term will begin July 1 and end on June 30, 2020.

He has served on the SCADA Board of Directors since 1997 when he was first elected as director of the Pee Dee District. In 2016, he was elected as a regional vice president and became treasurer in 2017.

Jones grew up as a third-generation dealer in the family owned dealerships, following his grandfather from Greensboro and his father in Sumter. Both Jones and his brother, John, joined the Jones Chevrolet dealership when they graduated college.

Two new stores were added in 1990 when the family bought T.A. Davis Nissan and T.A. Davis Pontiac-GMC, which was located beside the Chevy store. After this purchase, Jones moved to the two new stores and has been there for 29 years.

Jones Nissan was sold in 2017. Jones's father served as president in 1982-83, and his brother served as president in 2009-10.

Other officers elected at the annual meeting were first vice president TJ Johnson of Conway Ford in Conway and treasurer Chip Cooper of Clinton Motor Co. in Clinton.

The five vice presidents for the SCADA Board of Directors are Perry Shuping of Honda of Columbia in Columbia, Scott Rizer of Rizer Chevrolet in Walterboro, Robert Burns of Burns Ford in Lancaster, John Isgett of Raceway Chevrolet and Ford in Darlington and Richard Pendarvis of Pendarvis Chevrolet in Edgefield.
