Summerton woman killed in head-on collision

SUMMERTON – A 40-year-old Summerton woman was killed in a head-on collision near Davis Station on Aug. 30.
According to Clarendon County Coroner Jacqueline Blackwell, Ashley Nicole McIntosh died at the scene. Blackwell said an autopsy has been scheduled for later in the week.
Lance Cpl. Tyler Tidwell of the South Carolina Highway Patrol said the collision occurred at 2:26 p.m. on M.W. Rickenbaker Road about 2.7 miles south of Davis Station.
Tidwell said that McIntosh was driving a 1993 Saturn SL2 north on M.W. Rickenbaker Road when her vehicle crossed the center line and struck a 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander. The driver of the Mitsubishi, the only occupant of the vehicle, was airlifted from the scene to Prisma Health Richland.
The collision is under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
