Students of Jane Luther Smith excel at state piano competition

Sumter pianists Anna Krueger, 14, and Nelah McCray, 15, seated, received the highest rating of One Plus (1+) with Special Honorable Mention for their auditions in the Senior Division of the South Carolina Piano Festival Competition held Saturday, March 9, at the University of South Carolina School of Music, Columbia. For their prizes, Anna and Nelah will play in the State Honors Piano Recital on Saturday, March 16, at 11 a.m. in the University of South Carolina School of Music Recital Hall on Assembly Street, Columbia. The public is invited. Admission is free. In addition, standing from left, Kaylee Eccles, 7, Katie Hanson, 8, Ananda Bucci, 10, Lauren Tomlin, 9 Sarah Czarniecki, 15, and Nova Marshall, 14 (not pictured), successfully received Superior Plus and Superior ratings in their respective divisions.
