Sumter School District schools participated in the Walk of Art through the annual Sumter Inspire! Festival. The art is in downtown Sumter, from the Kimbrell's building to the old courthouse on Main Street, with a few displays along Liberty Street. Art will be on display until mid-April. Teachers used a professional development day to work together downtown to set up the community show. Participating teachers split $5,000 to buy art materials for use in the windows. Funding came from the Ackerman Legacy Foundation, along with a $1,000 grant from the South Carolina Cultural Commission. Above is artwork by Russell Harvin, Lakewood High School student.
