MANNING - Shirley Mae Anderson Simon, 45, wife of Willie Simon, died Monday, Aug. 2, 2010, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

Born June 19, 1965, in the Bloomville community of Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Thornwell and Alice Ragin Anderson and the stepdaughter of Sarah Jones Anderson. She attended Clarendon County public schools and Job Corp. At an early age, she was baptized and remained a faithful member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, until her health failed.

She worked for Clarendon County School District, local cleaners and Burger King.

Survivors besides her husband include a son, Marheem Simon of the home; one stepdaughter, Sharonda L. Livingston of Copperas Cove, Texas; stepmother, Sarah Anderson of Manning; eight sisters, Vermell (William) McFadden of Sumter, Juanita (Fladger) Parson, Deloris (James) Hilton, Inez (Anthony) Jones, Rosa (Leo) Hilton, Gloria (Manuel) Thompson, Louise (Johnny) Johnson, all of Manning, and Dorothy Nelson of Alcolu; two brothers, Thronwell (Irene) Anderson Jr. of Manning and Jimmy Thames of Bridgeport, Conn.; two grandsons; six aunts; and four uncles.

Funeral services were held Aug. 7 at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 2571 Joseph Lemon & Dingle Road, Manning, with the Rev. Sam Livingston, pastor, officiating. Burial was held in Manning Cemetery.

The family received friends at the home, 5772 Kenwood Road, Manning.
