SHEMIKA SHANTAY JAMES

MANNING - Shemika "Monk" Shantay James, 44, died on Monday, May 29, 2023, at her residence, 208 Depot St., Manning.

She was born on Nov. 21, 1978, in Manning, a daughter of Lucious Sweat and Debbie James Gibson.

Public viewing will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday at Hayes F. Samuels Sr. Memorial Chapel, 114 N. Church St., Manning.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Manning Elementary School Gymnasium, 311 W. Boyce St., Manning, SC 29102 with the Rev. George P. Windley Jr. officiating, the Rev. Herman Holland presiding and Elder Henry Lee Hilton, the Rev. Michelle Holland and the Rev. Constance Walker assisting. Burial will follow in the Union Cypress AME Church Cemetery, Manning.

The family is receiving friends from 1 to 8 p.m. at the home of her grandmother, Thelma Hilton, 117 Harvin Ave., Manning.
