SCDOT will hold a drop-in public information meeting on Thursday, July 11, regarding a proposed intersection improvement project in Sumter County.

The meeting will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 11, 2024. The meeting will take place at Goodwill Presbyterian Church  at 295 Brick Church Road, Mayesville. SCDOT representatives will be available at the meeting to discuss the proposed project with members of the community. There will be no formal presentation.

The South Carolina Department of Transportation proposes to convert the current intersection of U.S. 378 (Myrtle Beach Highway) at S.C. 527 (Brick Church Road) to a reduced conflict intersection (RCI). This means, drivers who are stopped on SC 527 and waiting to turn left or cross, will no longer have to navigate a complex intersection of two directions of traffic.
