SCDNR: Keep an eye on your mailbox; deer tags should be arriving soon

Posted

Deer hunters who have an annual or three-year hunting license and big game permit, combination license, or sportsman license which will be valid on Aug. 15 should automatically receive a base set of deer tags soon.

Additionally, Lifetime, Senior, Gratis and Catawba license holders that previously requested deer tags will automatically receive a free base set of tags this year and into the future. These license type holders who did not automatically receive or request tags last year must request them this year to be added to the automatic fulfillment list.

Youth and 3-Year Disability license holders must still request their free base set of tags each year.

Keep in mind, about 200,000 sets of tags are being printed and mailed. To allow adequate time for tags to reach you, please wait until at least Aug. 2 before inquiring with SCDNR licensing at (803) 734-3833 about the status of your tags.

Deer tags will also be available over the counter beginning Aug. 2 at SCDNR offices located in Charleston, Clemson, West Columbia (Farmers Market), Florence, Aynor and York. For information regarding these locations, please visit our website at https://bit.ly/3rs7deB.

License holders unsure about their hunting license status/expiration date, big game permit or other SCDNR hunting privileges can visit the Customer Privileges Portal online at https://bit.ly/3rtfija.

For additional harvest opportunities, you can purchase optional antlerless tags or antler-restricted buck tags. Call (866) 714-3611 or go online at https://bit.ly/3rACTyr to buy optional tags. Please allow 7-10 days for tags to arrive in the mail.

There are no significant changes to tags or the tagging system from last year. Please remember that ALL deer in South Carolina must be tagged immediately after harvest before moving from the point of kill.
