NEW YORK, N.Y. - Sarah M. Ceasar, 78, widow of Hayes Ceasar, died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010, at Bellevue Hospital, New York, N.Y.

She was born Nov. 4, 1931, in Manning, a daughter of the late Henry Williams and Ella Mae Johnson. She received her formal education at Melina Presbyterian Parochial School. At an early age, she accepted Christ and joined Melina Presbyterian Church. She retired from Fashion Institute of Technology as a medical assistant.

Survivors are two daughters, Eleanor (Gregory) Press of Mt. Vernon, N.Y., and Shirley D. Ceasar of New York, N.Y.; one brother, King (Geraldine) Johnson of Sumter; one sister,

Annie L. Coleman of Far Rockaway, N.Y.; 24 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

The remains will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. and services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Melina Presbyterian Church, 3539 Black River Road, Sardina, with the Rev. Carnell Hampton, pastor, officiating, assisting Elder Evangeline Evans. Burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery.

The family is receiving friends at the home of her sister-in-law, Celain B. Jackson, 12487 U.S. 301, Gable.

DEWEY B. COKER Jr.

Dewey Burdell Coker Jr., 60, died Monday, Aug. 30, 2010, at his home in Sumter.

Born Jan. 4, 1950, in Sumter, he was a son of the late Dewey Burdell Sr. and Margaret Elizabeth Gainey Coker. He was an electronics technician; a member of Sixteen Acres Hunting Club; and former member of Riverside Hunting Club and Statesburg Hunting Club. He was of the Holiness faith.

Survivors include a daughter, Melissa Elaine Coker Ivey and her husband, Jamie, of Sumter; a son, Patrick Keith Coker and his wife, Leslie, of New Mexico; four sisters, Sandra Elizabeth Rodgers, Patricia Coker Hudson and her husband, Ray, and Brenda Ellen Coker, all of Sumter, and Karen Cecil Snider and her husband, Scott, of Byron, Ga.; two brothers, Michael Coker and his wife, Sheryl, of Summerton and Sheldon Gainey "Don" Coker and his wife, Annie, of Sumter; seven grandchildren, Ryan Coker, Hunter Coker, Reygane Lee, Nathaniel Moser, J.J. Ivey III, Tiera Smith and Dylan Smith; a great-grandchild, Keagan Smith; and his beloved dog, Whopper.

Memorial services were held Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. William Kevin Cribb officiating.

The family received friends at 2210 Brogdon Circle, Sumter.
