Ruth Brock Hodge, 78, wife of William "Ray" Hodge, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 10, 2021, at Springdale Healthcare Center in Camden.

Born on Aug. 27, 1943, in Spartanburg, she was a daughter of the late Arthur William Brock and Lelia Davis Brock. She was a member of Sumter First Church of God and retired from Bosch Braking Systems. She was known as "The Cake Lady" and enjoyed crafts and crocheting.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years; three children, Patricia Johnson of Montezuma, Iowa, Bryan Hodge (Shannon) of Sumter and Raymond Lee Hodge of Sumter. She was affectionately called "Monka" by her 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Wayne Hodge; a son-in-law, Dwayne Johnson; and a sister, Judy Brock Mabry.

A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Ron Bower officiating.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of Bryan and Shannon Hodge, 1734 Clover St.

Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
