Ruth B. Floyd Simmons, 81, widow of Henry "Cotton" Floyd and Fairless E. Simmons, died on Friday, Dec. 2, 2022, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital.

Born on Jan. 30, 1941, in Lee County, she was a daughter of the late Woodrow and Naomi Troublefield Barrett. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Charles Edward Floyd of Sumter; a brother, J.W. Barrett of Camden; a sister, Louise Johnson of Lee County; and her companion for many years, Troy Louk of Sumter.

She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Henry Floyd; and four sisters, Evelyn Brown, Sarah Paranto, Virginia McLeod and Mary Poole.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Wayne McElveen officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home.
