ROSE GRACE GRILLO SCHENKEL
Rose Grace Grillo Schenkel, 86, widow of Dr. John Peter Schenkel, died on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2020, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital, surrounded by her four daughters.
Born on Nov. 12, 1933, in Ashtabula, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Nadage Grillo. Mrs. Schenkel was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church.
Surviving are her four daughters, Barbara Harkins, Jere Hancock (Roy) and Estelle Evans (Eddie) of Sumter, and Kendall Fiorini (Ken) of Raleigh, North Carolina; eight grandchildren, Beth White (Jeramy), Bradley Harkins, Roy Hancock (Kelli), Alyece Varner (Patrick), Courtney Jacobs (Brandon), Heather Cromer (Tyler), Nicholas Fiorini and Morgan Fiorini; and eight great-grandchildren, Kinzlee, Gracie, Harper, Cody, Wesley, Remi, Nadaje Rose and Leo; and two special pets, Eddie and Stormy.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Heather Schenkel; two grandsons, Matthew Harkins and Eric Hancock; a great-grandson, Carter White; and her beloved pup companion, Buffy.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Mark Crabbe, Dr. Ansel McFaddin, Dr. Charles White, and the nurses and staff at Prisma Health Tuomey Hosptial for the wonderful care she received.
Private graveside services will be held.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at 503 Winn St.
