DALZELL — Rosar Lee “R.L.” Conyers Jr., 86, husband of Paulette R. Conyers, went to his heavenly home on Thursday, March 20, 2025.
Born July 12, 1938, in Sumter County, he was a son of the late R.L. Conyers Sr. and Louise Connor Conyers. Mr. Conyers was a charter member and deacon of Jefferson Road Freewill Baptist Church. He retired from Korn Industries after 44 years of service.
Survivors in addition to his wife of 63 years include two sons, Gerald Conyers (Tara) of Sumter and the Rev. Rusty Conyers (Maria) of Snow Hill, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Amber Wilson (David), Ryan Conyers (Stephanie), Megan Conyers, Lee Conyers, Lauren Conyers, Chad Conyers and Clint Conyers (Kim); nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Ervin Conyers; two sisters, Linda Hodge and Delores Holiday; and a niece, Marty.
He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Conyers; three sisters, Mary Louila Cook, Annie Jean McGraw and Gladys Wilcox; and a brother, Allen Conyers.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 23, 2025, at Jefferson Road Freewill Baptist Church officiated by the Rev. Gene Gilbert, the Rev. Rusty Conyers, Mr. Gerald Conyers and Mr. Billy Sams. Burial will be in Sumter Cemetery.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home.
