ROBERT GEORGE GIBBS

Robert "Bob" George Gibbs, 89, husband of Barbara Jane Jarrard Gibbs, died on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2020, at Grand Strand Hospital in Myrtle Beach.

Born in Franklin, New Jersey, he was a son of the late Clifford and Marion Walker Gibbs. Bob was a member of Pinewood Charge United Methodist Church and attended Kansas State University. He joined the U.S. Air Force, served as a navigator on the B-47 aircraft and met Barbara Jane Jarrard. Bob and Jane were married, and he left the Air Force and returned to Allamuchy, New Jersey, to run Gibbs Farms with Bob's father and brothers. Moving his family south, Bob purchased Gibbscrest Farms in Sumter and raised four children.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years; four children, Deb Williford (Charles), Karen Mitchell (Mike), Scott Gibbs (Laura) and Diane Gibbs (Jim Lester); four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers; numerous nieces and nephews; and so many friends who were just like family.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.
