Public participation, financial reports before Sumter school board Monday at Chestnut Oaks

Public participation, financial reports and the new superintendent’s regular report briefing highlight Sumter School District’s Board of Trustees’ regularly scheduled monthly board meeting on tap Monday night at Chestnut Oaks Middle School.

An Office of Operations discipline update and district property matters also are listed among other items on the agenda, which was posted online Friday by a district staff member.

The meeting will be at Chestnut Oaks Middle, 1200 Oswego Highway, and begin at 6 p.m. This will be William Wright Jr.’s fourth meeting with the trustees since entering the district’s superintendent post on July 1.

Like all regularly scheduled board meetings on the second Monday of the month, public participation basically leads off the agenda.

Any member of the public wanting to make a comment to the board on any topic must arrive before the 6 p.m. start time -- as early as 5:30 p.m. -- and complete a form to speak.

For those not physically attending Monday, the district continues to broadcast all meetings live on YouTube.

Anyone wanting to attend the meeting virtually can do so via YouTube Sumter School District Board Meeting and the district’s Facebook page, @SumterSCSchools.

POLICY COMMITTEE TO MEET WEDNESDAY

In other news, the school board’s Policy Committee is scheduled to meet Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the district office, 1345 Wilson Hall Road, according to a district spokeswoman.

Trustee Brian Alston serves as the chair of the committee.

Like all board-related meetings, the meeting is open to the public.

For those not physically attending Wednesday, it can also be viewed live on YouTube.
