CLARENDON COUNTY - Don't keep bottles of unused, unwanted or expired medications just lying around. These medications can pose the potential for overdose, misuse, abuse and opioid use disorder (addiction).

Clarendon Behavioral Health Services, 14 N. Church St., in partnership with Manning Police Department and Clarendon County Sheriff's Office, is offering a solution to dispose of these types of medications through a "Prescription Take Back" program on Saturday, June 24, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Clarendon Behavioral Services.

"We don't want these medications to fall into the wrong hands, because that could cause some serious issues," said Manning Police Chief Keith Grice. "We want to remind people that when turning in their medications that they need to remove their name and personal information from the bottles, but they need to leave the name of the medication (and any description)."

Do not drop off liquids. No glass products of any kind will be accepted, including bottles, containers, vials, pipettes or other glass receptacles. And, please do not drop off sharp items, including needles, syringes, lancets, knives, razors, scalpels, scissors or similar items.

If you are unable to come on June 24, there are also four additional locations for individuals to drop off their unused, unwanted or expired medications: CCSO, 217 Commerce St.; Anderson's Pharmacy, 419 S. Mill St.; Brunson's Pharmacy, 12 N. Brooks St. in Manning; and Summerton Drugs, 115 Main St. in Summerton.
