Pfizer vaccine available at Sumter County Fair

The South Carolina Department of Education will host a vaccination event at the Sumter American Legion Fair this year.

The Department of Education partnered with the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control to create a vaccination initiative called In It to Win It to support local school districts, encourage vaccinations and provide information and resources to Sumter County residents.

Compared to the 76% of people throughout the nation who have received a COVID-19 vaccine, only 52% of Sumter County's eligible residents have received at least one dose, according to the Department of Health and Environmental Control's Immunization Online Network.

The event will be held Oct. 20-23 from 5-9 p.m. and Oct. 24 from 11 a.m.-3p.m. and 5-9 p.m. at the Sumter County Fairgrounds, located at 30 S. Artillery Drive. Attendees 12 years and older will be able to receive either their first or second dose of the Pfizer vaccine.
