Pedestrian, 57, killed after being struck by vehicle in Sumter

A 57-year-old man was killed after being struck by a vehicle Saturday night in Sumter.
Dorian McCaskill, Jr., 57, of Sumter was pronounced dead at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital, said Sumter County Coroner Robbie Baker. He died following injuries he sustained from the accident.
The accident occurred at about 8:30 p.m. on McCrays Mill Road near Cook Street, Baker said. McCaskill was the pedestrian involved in the accident.
Next of kin has been notified, and an autopsy will be performed Tuesday at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
The City of Sumter Police Department and the Sumter County Coroner’s Office is investigating.
