Pearl "Bape" Mack Benbow, 86, widow of Eddie Benbow, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital.

She was born Sept. 11, 1924, in the Jordan community of Manning, a daughter of the late Levi Sr. and Larraine Robinson Mack and stepdaughter of the late Lennie Hilton Mack. She attended Clarendon County public schools. In her youth, she accepted Christ as her Savior and joined Society Hill AME Church. She later moved her membership to Union Cypress AME Church, where she served on the Missionary Society, senior choir and was a member of the Pride of Foreston Order of Eastern Star No. 131.

Survivors are one daughter, Leatha B. Rivers of the home; one granddaughter, Sharon (Fred) Coleman of Stone Mountain, Ga.; one grandson, Wentz Benbow Jr. of Columbus, Ohio; two sisters, Inez Manning of Manning and Clitel Pittman of Stockbridge, Ga.; two brothers, Levi Mack Jr. and Prentis Mack, both of Philadelphia, Pa.; one great-grandchild; and six sisters-in-law.

Eastern Star Rites will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Hayes F. & LaNelle J. Samuels Sr. Memorial Chapel, 114 N. Church St., Manning.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011, at Union Cypress AME Church, 8247 S.C. 260, Manning, with the Rev. Mary Hamilton, pastor, officiating, the Rev. Malachi Gibson, presiding, assisting the Rev. O'Donald Dingle, the Rev. Elosie Pompey and Elder James Robinson. Burial followed in the churchyard cemetery.

The family received friends at the home, 11160 S.C. 260, Manning.
