Orangeburg child missing, mother found deceased

A woman was found deceased in an Orangeburg residence and her child is reportedly missing, according to the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Leroy Ravenell announced investigators are searching for 5-year-old Aspen Jeter.

Around noon on Thanksgiving Day, Orangeburg deputies were sent to a residence in the 200 block of Louise Drive for a wellness check, Ravenell said. They found a deceased female who had not been heard from since Nov. 1 and learned that her child, Jeter, was not located in the home.

"If you have any information on the whereabouts of this child, please let us know," Ravenell said. "You don't have to give your name but just give us what you know."
