Sumter County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of shots fired in the Country Springs neighborhood on Friday afternoon.
At about 5:45 p.m. on Feb. 14, dispatch received a call of numerous shots that had been fired into an individual’s home off S.C. 15, in the South Sumter part of the county. No injuries were reported, according to Mark Bordeaux, public information officer with Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
Upon arrival, investigators discovered a vehicle parked at the home was also struck with gunfire, Bordeaux said. Deputies increased patrol in the area as witnesses were interviewed and evidence was gathered.
An investigation is ongoing and more information will be released as it becomes available.

This is the third shooting to occur within Sumter on Feb. 14, 2025. Two others occurred within the city limits.
