NEW ZION - The COVID-19 pandemic has caused the cancellation of one of the most unusual July 4th parades in South Carolina.

The New Zion parade that travels through New Zion from east to west and then turns around an heads back the other way will not be held this year.

There is some good news though. The Red, White and Blue Fireworks Show hosted by the City of Manning will be held Friday at 9:45 p.m.

City officials are asking that everyone stay in their cars for the fireworks show or stay a minimum of six feet away from others.

Also still on schedule is the shortest parade in South Carolina. Scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, the annual Eagle Point Parade will travel through the small community nestled on the shores of Lake Marion near the Santee Dam. The parade typically features festively decorated bicycles, golf carts, cars and always a huge Clarendon County fire truck pulling up the rear.

Guests can watch from the vehicles or alongside the roadway. Please adhere to the social distancing guidelines.
