Nathan Rhames Jr., 51, died Dec. 16, 2010, at Hopewell Healthcare in Sumter.

Born Aug. 6, 1959, in Brookyln, N.Y., he was a son of Herline Gibson Alston and Nathan Rhames Sr. He attended Sarah J. Hale High School in Brooklyn. Nathan joined Lafayette Presbyterian Church of Brooklyn, where he was baptized. Nathan was later saved in his life.

Nathan worked for Federal Mogul, D&T Bar B Que, Sky-Blue Seafood & Grill, Gold Kist and McDonald's, until his health declined to the point that he could no longer work. Nathan was known for his outspokenness and his joy in having fun with his family.

Survivors besides his mother and father include two sisters, Patricia (Jasper) Brogdon of Sumter and Theresa (Dwayne) Pinckney of Manning; a son, Nathaniel Anthony Rhames Jr. of Brooklyn; a granddaughter, Ashley Nichole Rhames of Brooklyn; three nephews, Carl (Calista) Fulton of California, Eric (Crystal) Rhames of Columbia and Dwayne Pinckney of Manning; two nieces, Kisha Rhames of Sumter and Kendra Jackson of Manning; eight aunts, Daisy McFadden of Baltimore, Md., Julia (Jacob) Andrews of Brooklyn, Mable Louise of New York, N.Y., Susie (Walter) Oree of Bronx, N.Y., Profit Fran McFadden of Tucker, Ga., Carolyn Ragin of Summerton, Buelah Gibson of Manning and Daisy Guess of Sumter; two uncles, Thomas Lee Gibson of Bronx and Johnny (Cookie) Bennette of Florida; a great-grandaunt, Ida Jackson of Summerton; two very special and dear friends, Eric Anderson of Brooklyn and Richard Canty of Paxville; a special nephew reared in the home, Cimore Rhames; a host of grandnieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 23, 2010, at St. Mark AME Church in Summerton with the Rev. Edward Roberts, pastor, and Elder James Robinson, eulogist, will officiate. Burial followed in the Summerton Funeral Service cemetery in the Davis Station community.
