NANCY ANN HAYES SPANGLER

Nancy Ann Hayes Spangler, age 81, beloved wife of 53 years to the late George Ralph Spangler Jr., died on Monday, March 25, 2024, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital.

Born in Charleston, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Homer W. Hayes and Violet Mae Sergent Hayes. Nancy was a registered nurse and was employed by National Healthcare of Sumter. A strong woman of faith, she was a member of St. Marks Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Euzelian Sunday School class as well as the Circle of Love ladies' group. Nancy was also very active in the D.A.V. on both the state and local level. She was a member locally of the Gamecock #5 D.A.V. Auxiliary. She loved quilting and was a member of "Stitches of Love" through Alice Drive Baptist Church. Nancy served as the treasurer of Boy Scout Troop 342 for many years as well as a volunteer at Shaw Pharmacy in Sumter. She will be remembered as a very devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

Surviving to cherish her memory are two sons, George Christian Spangler and his wife, Fran, of Columbia, and Jason Patrick Spangler and his wife, Allison, of Charlotte; a daughter, Tiffany Ann Spangler Reynolds and her husband, Mike, of Sumter; five grandchildren, Christine Ann Urban, Nicolas Alexander Urban, Sophia Elizabeth Spangler, Patrick Williams Spangler and Crystal Hyatt; and two great-grandchildren, Lucas Alexander Urban and Ryan Vanvolkenburg.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Albrecht.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2024, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bullock Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 29, 2024, at 1 p.m. at St. Marks Methodist Church with the Rev. Wes Conner officiating. The interment will follow the service in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Marks Methodist Church, 27 Broad St., Sumter.
