MICHAEL E. BROWN
Michael E. Brown, 56, was born on May 24, 1953, and departed this life at Tuomey Regional Medical Center on Thursday, May 13, 2010.
Michael "Mike," as he was affectionately called, was the son of Lucille M. Brown Gipson and the late Samuel Brown.
He attended the public schools of Clarendon County and Brooklyn, N.Y. At an early age Mike accepted Christ as his personal savior and was baptized and became a member of New Canaan FBH Church in Passaic, N.J.
His major employment was at Roberts Clothing Factory in New York City. He was also a construction worker. Mike was a very loving and kind person and will be missed by all those lives he touched.
He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Lucille M. Brown Gipson; one brother, Otis (OB) Brown of Sumter; and a sister, Theresa Mitchell of Manning; four uncles, the Rev. H.W. Mitchell (Aslee) of Manning, Roosevelt Mitchell of Summerton, the Rev. G.M. Mitchell of Passaic, N.J.; four aunts, Rovenia (Lennon) Glover of Summerton, Theola Brown of New York City, Rebecca (Nathaniel) Gipson of Philadelphia, and Lillian (Edward) Johnson of Manning; two special nephews, Trenton Brown and Rasheen Butler; two special nieces, Starla and Courtney Brown of Sumter; and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at Taw Caw Baptist Church, Alex Harvin Highway, Summerton, with the Rev. Dr. William T. Johnson, pastor, officiating.
Burial was held in the Liberty Hill AME churchyard cemetery, Liberty Hill Road, St. Paul community, Summerton.
King Funeral Home of Summerton, 3 Larry King Highway, handled arrangements.
