MELENE B. FLOYD

SCRANTON -- Melene Beard Floyd, 63, died Friday May 28, 2010, at a Florence hospital after an illness.

Born in Florence County, she was a daughter of the late Josephine Beard. She was a member of Turbeville First Baptisst Church in Turbeville, where she served as secretary for 24 years. She was recipient of the Smyrna Award as well as a member of the Dicey Gibbons Circle and a teacher of the Natalie Coker Sunday School Class.

Survivors include husband of 40 years, Richard Floyd of the home; three daughters, Melanie (Clint) Floyd of Scranton, Becky (Derek) Blow of Florence and Angel Coker of Olanta; a son, Doug (Paula) Floyd of Effingham; a brother, Buster (Wanda) Coker of Olanta; an aunt, Luell Hazelden of Santee; special cousins, Walton and Alma Locklair; special friends, Alex and Mary Welch and Charlie and Ann Strickland; 10 grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Monday, May 31 at Turbeville First Baptist Church.
