MANNING - McLeod Health Clarendon announced its 2022 Nurses of the Year earlier this week.

Kim Brunson was named MHC Registered Nurse of the Year, and Jackqulynn Pompey was named Support Person of the Year.

"Nurses and nursing staff are an essential part of the health care team and play a vital role in providing an excellent patient care experience," said Kim Jolly, MHC chief nursing officer. "These women truly exemplify the four core values of McLeod Health - the Value of Caring, the Value of the Person, the Value of Quality, and the Value of Integrity - as well as our mission of improving the health and well-being of patients in our region."

Brunson, MHC nursing superviser, received the honor for "being a patient advocate and team player." One person who nominated Brunson as Nurse of the Year said, "Kim goes above and beyond for our patients and staff. She is always ready to jump in and help do whatever is needed to provide the best care for our patients."

Pompey, MHC medical surgical technician, was named Support Person of the Year for her "dedication and service." Her nomination said, "Jackqulynn is a dedicated team member that should be recognized for her dedication to her team, our hospital and patients."

National Nurses Week is held annually during the week of Florence Nightingale's birthday. Nightingale was the founder of nursing as a modern profession.
