Martha Frances Mayo "Mrs. B." Brixhoff, 89, of Summerton, died Saturday, July 31, 2010, at the Medical University of South Carolina hospital in Charleston.

Born Jan. 12, 1921, in Tarboro, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Joseph Peyton and Edith Sires Mayo. She was married for 64 years to the late Paul Karl Brixhoff Sr. They owned and operated Western Auto in Wake Forest, N.C., for 32 years. In 1982, they relocated upon their retirement to the Charleston area in order to be closer to their children and grandchildren. She has lived in the Lake Marion area of Summerton since 2003. She has been a member of Wake Forest Baptist Church since 1956.

Survivors include a daughter, Lynda Brixhoff Owens and her husband, Bryant, of Manson, N.C.; a son, Paul K. Brixhoff Jr. and his wife, Ada, of Summerton; a sister, Gladys Graham of Jacksonville, Fla.; three grandchildren, David Adams, Noel Brixhoff Gilman, and Randi Owens Arroyo; seven great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Justin, Cameron, Alex, David, Kayleigh, and Felix; two nieces, Drucilla and Paula; special family members, Pamela Clark of Raleigh, N.C., Patricia and Bobby Dobbins, Janet Tindal, and her faithful companion, Bo.

Memorial services were held Aug. 7 at the funeral home with Pastor Carlton Weatherburn officiating.

BILL C. PRESCOTT Sr.

Bill C. Prescott Sr., 76, husband of Maggie Prescott, died Aug. 3, 2010, at Regency Hospital in Florence.

Born June 21, 1934, in Sumter, he was a son of the late Samuel and Ora Holladay Prescott. He was a retired sergeant from the Sumter County Sheriff's Office. He was an avid fisherman and loved baseball.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by five daughters, Billie Tidwell (Jimmy) of Cassatt, Earline Gainey (Jay), Judy Haselden (Harry), Brenda Boykin and Carol Brown, all of Sumter; three sons, Bill C. "Bubba" Prescott Jr. (Dollee) of Alcolu, Donnie Brown (Ann) of Bishopville and Cordie Brown of Sumter; a sister, Ann P. Watts of Turbeville; 25 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.

Funeral services were held Aug. 7 at the funeral home with the Rev. Nathaniel "Nat" Brown officiating. Burial was held in Brunson Cemetery.

The family received friends at 2445 Ike Brunson Road.
