MARION MESSIER

BISHOPVILLE - Marion Napier White Messier, 75, widow of Anthony F. Messier, died Friday, Oct. 29, 2010, at Heritage Home of Florence.

Born in Lee County, she was a daughter of the late Marion Napier White and Lila Lee Davis White. Mrs. Messier was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church and was a public school teacher for 39 years. She was a graduate of Coker College in Hartsville and received her master's degree from the University of South Carolina in Columbia. She served as president of the Lee County Historical Society and was a faithful volunteer and docent at the S.C. Cotton Museum in Bishopville.

Survivors include two sons, Anthony N. Messier (Sally) of Camden and Michael Messier (Charlotte) of Florence; a daughter, Julie Messier Pepper (Joe) of Spartanburg; eight grandchildren, Sara, Joseph, Elizabeth, Caroline, Kathryn, James, Rebekah and Amy; a sister, Fannie Watson (Tom) of Bishopville; a brother, D.A. White (Rita) of Summerton; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Oct. 31, 2010, at Bethlehem United Methodist Church with the Rev. Henry Altman officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

The family received friends at the home, 3873 Red Hill Road, Camden.
