Marion Gilbert "Duke" Moreland, 89, died on Thursday, Sept. 23, 2021, at Springdale Healthcare Center in Camden.

Born on Aug. 4, 1932, in Winchester, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Jack and Edna Creech Moreland. Mr. Moreland served in the U.S. Air Force and retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He had a passion for bluegrass music and attended numerous bluegrass festivals throughout the years. He was an avid race fan and raced at Sumter Speedway for many years. He also enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting.

Survivors include a daughter, Ann Lovett (Mike) of Sumter; four grandchildren, Stephanie Poole, Daniel Lovett, Dylan Weidner and Kelsey Williamson; two great-grandchildren, Chaise Poole and Caleb Lovett; a sister, Louise Lowder of Paxville; two nephews, Russell Lowder (Tammy) of Paxville and Jay Lowder (Vicki) of Eastover; one niece, Teri Bradley (Jim) of Alabama; and his canine companion, Lily.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Ginger Lynn Williamson; and a son, Michael Gene Moreland.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home.

Burial will be at the Moreland Family Cemetery in Winchester, Kentucky.
