Margaret Stewart Bowen, 88, widow of Thomas Edward Bowen, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2024, at Lake Marion Nursing Facility.
Born March 19, 1936, in Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late John Roy Stewart and Anna Harrington Stewart Lowder. She was married to her sweetheart for 68 years.
Margaret Bowen’s life reflected a Proverbs 31 woman. She was a member of Cherryvale Baptist Church, where she served faithfully as a pastor’s wife since 1967. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. Many memories were made each week as she especially loved cooking Sunday dinner for all to enjoy.
Margaret is survived by five children, Michael Bowen (Stephanie, Gayle), Stephen Bowen (Loni), Daniel Bowen (Rhonda), Judy Bowen and Vicki Keefer (Coy); her grandchildren Joshua (Robyn), Shannon (Stevie), Adam, Crystal (Dwayne), Justin (Allison), Joseph (Destiny), Meghan (Richard), Brandon, Wade, Benjamin (Frances), Shane, Hannah (Joshua), Nicholas and Hayli; 25 great-grandchildren; and many special family and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sarah Bowen, and a grandson, William “Billy” Vipperman (Kristel); and nine siblings, John Roy “Junior” Stewart, Blanche Stewart Duke, Willie Colvin Stewart, Harry Legrand Stewart, Annette Stewart Harrington, Carolyn Stewart “Susie” McLeod, Jackie Stewart Blanchard Sr., Thomas Jimmy Stewart and Alice Marie Stewart.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, Dec. 1, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Cherryvale Baptist Church. Burial will be private.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers will be her great-grandsons.
