MARGARET G. FERGUSON

Margaret G. Ferguson, 71, wife of Charles Francis Ferguson, died Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010, at McLeod Hospice House in Florence.

Born Dec. 17, 1938, in Lancashire, England, she was a daughter of the late Harold and Sadie Stephenson Richardson. She was a retired facility manager in Prince Georges County, Md., and attended Manning United Methodist Church.

Surviving in addition to her husband of Manning are a daughter, Karen Stanley and her husband, William, of Manning; a son, Mark Ferguson and his wife, Debra, of Huntington, Md.; two sisters, Sadie Ford and Mavis Trett, both of England; a brother, James Richardson of England; and twin granddaughters, Kristy and Chelsea Stanley.

Burial will be at a later date in Arlington Cemetery.

IDA S. McBRIDE

Ida Simon McBride, 89, widow of Willie McBride, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

Born in Greeleyville, she was the first born of 12 children to the late Allen Sr. and Susan Emma Lesane Simon. She attended Clarendon County public schools and was an active member of St. Mark United Methodist Church, where she served on the community board for many years until her health failed. She was a loving and devoted mother of eight children and raised many of her grandchildren faithfully.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five children, four who died at birth, and John McBride; six brothers, Emanuel, Karo, Melvin, June, Nathaniel and Allen Simon Jr.; and two sisters, Edna Mae Hilton and Rosa Lee Johnson.

Survivors are two daughters, Edna (Earl) Peterson and Geraldine (Bill) McBride, both of Sumter; one son, Willie (Rosa) McBride Jr. of Sumter; two sisters, Inez Hayward of Sumter and Mary Ellen (Joe) Simmons of Mayesville; one brother, Willie (Josephine) Simon of Elliott; two sisters-in-law, Diane and Helen Simon, both of Sumter; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, at Faith Enterprise Church, Old Manning Road, Sumter, with the Rev. Laddie Howard officiating, assisted by the Rev. James Holiday. Burial followed in the St. Mark United Methodist Church cemetery.

The family recieved friends at the McBride home, 25 Brand St., Sumter.
