Manning Police Department requests help in locating man in connection to fatal altercation

MANNING – The Manning Police Department is asking for assistance in locating Davion Johnson of Manning in connection with the July 12 shooting death of Jonathan Johnson.

“Anyone with information on Davion Johnson can call the Manning Police Department’s Tip Line at (803) 433-8025,” Manning Police Chief Keith Grice said. “Callers can remain anonymous.”

According to Grice, the shooting occurred around 5:30 p.m. at Village St. Claire Apartments off Hospital Street in Manning. Jonathan Johnson, 21, was transported to McLeod Health Clarendon by personal vehicle and was pronounced deceased by the emergency room staff, Grice said.

“We want the public to know that there is no immediate danger to anyone,” Grice added.

Grice said he could not release any additional information because of the ongoing investigation.
