Manning man found dead in home

MANNING – A 23-year-old Manning man was found dead at his home Sunday afternoon, according to Clarendon County Coroner Bucky Mock.

“The victim was identified as Dashell Powell,” Mock said.  “An autopsy will be conducted (Monday) at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.”

Around 5:34 p.m. April 5, Clarendon County deputies along with Clarendon County EMS and the Clarendon County Fire Department’s first responders responded to a shooting incident at Powell’s home on Raccoon Road, Clarendon County Sheriff Tim Baxley released Monday afternoon.

“Upon arriving on the scene, responding units found the victim, 23-year-old Dashell Davonne-Dilique Powell, deceased with apparent gunshot wounds,” Baxley said in the release.

The victim’s body was discovered at his home by a family member, Baxley added.

The sheriff said his office contacted the State Law Enforcement Division’s forensics team to assist with processing the crime scene.

“You do not have to reveal your identity to leave information,” Baxley said.
