MANNING – A 61-year-old Manning man has been charged with the June 18 alleged choking death of a 58-year-old Manning woman.

According to the Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office, Thomas E. Cramer was arrested and charged with murder in connection to the death of Robin F. Gano after CCSO deputies were dispatched to Nicole Drive in the Buckhorn Subdivision off Raccoon Road in reference to a call from a male subject who advised dispatchers that “he had choked his girlfriend and stated that she was not breathing.”

The sheriff’s office said that when deputies arrived on scene about 2:30 a.m., a male answered the door. Deputies said they found a female who “appeared to be” deceased lying on the floor in the master bedroom. Personnel with Clarendon County Fire Rescue on the scene pronounced the woman deceased.

After interviewing Cramer, deputies determined that “Cramer and the deceased had been in a domestic altercation, where Cramer hit and choked (Gano) causing her death.”

Deputies stated both Cramer and Gano resided at the home.

Cramer was transported to Clarendon County Detention Center. Bond for Cramer was denied at a hearing held on June 18.
