Manning government closing most facilities to public, won't charge or discontinue services for late payments

Beginning Monday, March 23, all City of Manning facilities, excluding the Manning Police Department, will be closed to the public. This includes all city-operated parks.

City services will continue, and city offices will be accessible by telephone Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. City Hall will be closed on Fridays until further notice. City Hall can be reached at (803) 435-8477.

All utility customers are being asked to pay their water bill online or leave payments in a night deposit box located on the side of the building on the North Mill Street side, according to a news release from Mayor Julia Nelson. If paying with cash, leave exact change. Overpayments will be applied as an account credit.

To complete an online payment, go to www.cityofmanning.org and click on the blue tab that says “make a utility payment.” Enter your account number from your paper bill and follow the prompts. Payments made after 5 p.m. will be posted the next business day.

The city will continue trash pickup on a normal schedule. Other sanitation and utility services will operate on a modified schedule.

The city will not apply late payment penalties, suspend or disconnect water services for nonpayment during the current declared state of emergency. All customers continue to be responsible and will be held accountable for paying utility bills. The measure is not to provide free services but rather to accommodate delayed payments by individuals impacted by the COVID-19 state of emergency.

Business License payments can be sent by mail. If you are a new business or have questions concerning your business or zoning permits, call (803) 435-8477, extension 5118.
