Man sought in connection with local jewelry thefts

Sumter Police Department detectives are attempting to locate a man suspected in at least three "snatch and grab" jewelry thefts from Sumter businesses since February.
The most recent theft was at 7:20 p.m. June 15 at Kmart, 1143 Broad St.
In each incident, an unknown man asked to look at a bracelet and/or necklace at the jewelry counter before leaving with the merchandise.
The other incidents were reported in February at Sumter Pawn, 705 Broad St., and Reliable Pawn, 33 W. Liberty St.
Jewelry valued at a total of nearly $6,000 was reported stolen.
Detectives have been able to identify a suspect and are searching for Lorenzo Ragin, 38, of 2363 Dingle Pond Road, Summerton. He faces three counts of shoplifting (more than $2,000 and less than $10,000).
