The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office has taken into custody a 25-year-old Sumter man named to their Most Wanted list last month.

Datrick Gartel Wilson, whose last known address is 627 S. Main St. in Sumter, was taken into custody after a traffic stop Monday afternoon in the Boulevard Road area of Sumter County. Wilson has been sought on charges of kidnapping, armed robbery and weapons violations in connection with a Dec. 21, 2014, incident in the 100 block of Computer Circle.

According to officers, Wilson fled the scene of initial traffic stop but was captured after a brief foot chase with deputies.

Wilson was found to have a handgun in his possession at the time of his arrest and now faces additional charges.

During the Dec. 21 incident, Wilson allegedly held a victim against his or her will at gunpoint and robbed them of an undetermined amount of cash.

Wilson, who is also known as “Slice,” also remains a person of interest in a Red Bay Road area shooting, which also occurred in December.

The suspect is being held at Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center.
