SUMMERTON - Mamie King Ragin, 92, widow of Thomas Aaron Ragin, died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital, Manning.

She was born June 19, 1918, in Summerton, a daughter of the late Edward and Laura McKnight King. She attended Clarendon County public schools. In her youth, she accepted Christ as her Savior and joined Taw Caw Missionary Baptist Church, where she served faithfully.

She was preceded in death by two children, Harold Ragin and Shirley R. Nelson; three sisters; and four brother.

Survivors are four daughters, Clara W. Lawson of Miami, Fla., Thomasene Ragin-Ali, Arlene R. Washington and Mamie R. Wright, all of Summerton; one son, Luke (Adrianne) Ragin of Hanover, Pa.; one sister-in-law, Mable Walker; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011, at Taw Caw Missionary Baptist, 1130 Granby Lane, Summerton, with the Rev. Dr. William T. Johnson, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in the churchyard cemetery.

The family received friends at the home, 1075 Session St., Summerton.
