Lorraine Spruiel Perry Felder, 92, widow of the Rev. Daniel Deleon Felder Sr., transitioned from her earthly home to eternity on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2022, at Prisma Health Richland Hospital in Columbia.

Born in Newport News, Virginia, she was the youngest daughter of the late James Edward Perry Sr. and Alma Spruiel Perry. Following her husband's service in the National Teachers Corps, she returned to Virginia, where the couple joined the United Methodist Church. Upon retirement, they returned to South Carolina. Lorraine joined and was a faithful and dedicated member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church and served in many capacities, including former vice president and secretary of the United Methodist Women, member of the Minister's Wives Association, life member of the National Council of Negro Women, and many other community and civic organizations. She was named volunteer chaplain emeritus at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 51 years, the Rev. Dr. Daniel DeLeon Felder Sr.; her eldest son, Daniel DeLeon Felder Jr.; and a grandson, Matthew James Henry Chenault.

Lorraine leaves to cherish precious memories and a legacy of faith: her five children, retired Lt. Cmdr. Leona Vera Moten of West Columbia, Dr. Loretta Felder McKelvey of Columbia, Jason Jerome Felder of West Columbia, Joseph Craig (Angela) Felder of Fort Washington, Maryland, and Dr. Danielle Lorraine (Sheldon) Edwards of Charlotte, North Carolina; eight grandchildren, Lisa Bostick, Lauren (Vitor) Dos Santos, Keith Werts Jr., Lindsey Felder, Alexis Felder, Perri Felder, Erica Felder and Nina Edwards; one great-granddaughter, Darryne Hill; a forever daughter-in-law, Monica Brandon; and a host of other relatives and friends.
