Lorraine Mims Kropf, 64, wife of Dennis Kay Kropf, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2011, at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.

Born Nov. 30, 1946, in Kingstree, she was a daughter of the late Arie Durant Mims and Edna Scott Mims. She was a retired civil service worker; a longstanding member of the Santee Electric Trust Board - Operation Roundup; a member of the Clarendon County Library Board; the Wyboo Fire Station Ladies Auxiliary; and she attended Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church in Greeleyville.

She is survived by her husband of Manning; a son, Ryan Kropf of Manning; a son-in-law, Johnny Shaff of Georgia; a brother, Dr. Albert Mims and wife, Julia, of Lake City; a sister, Roberta Burrows and husband, Mike of Sumter; two grandsons, Starry and Dennis Shaff, both of Georgia; and three great-grandsons.

She was preceded in death by an adopted daughter, Lois Ann Kropf Shaff.

A memorial service was held Friday, Feb. 25, 2011, in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. Tommy Burgess officiating.

Members of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 960 and the Clarendon County Fire Department served as pallbearers.

The family received friends at the home, 1190 Trout Ave., Manning.

CLEO McFADDEN

NEW ZION - Cleo "Tom" McFadden, 55, husband of Doris Singletary McFadden, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2011, at his home, 1362 Renegade Trail, New Zion.

He was born July 26, 1955, in New Zion, a son of Mattie Leola Brown McFadden and the late Robert David McFadden. He received his formal education in the public schools of Clarendon County. In his youth, he accepted Christ as his Savior and joined Howard Chapel AME Church, where he attended Sunday school and sang with the adult choir. He was employed with Jadi Market.

Survivors are his mother, Mattie Leola Brown McFadden of the home; wife, Doris Singletary McFadden of the home; four daughters reared as his own, Trelonda Pressley, Treonda and Tawanda Singletary and Watwomia Singletary, all of Sumter; four sisters, Leola (Eugene) Kennedy and Cynthia Ceasar, both of New Zion, and Mary L. (Donnie) Curtis and Barbara A. McFadden, both of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; five brothers, Alvin Brown, Ronald and Johnny B. McFadden, all of New Zion, Horace (the Rev. Dr. Johnnie) McFadden of Sumter and Willie L. (Joann) Player of Bennettsville; eight aunts; five uncles; mother-in-law, Dorothy Singletary; three sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Services were held Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, at Howard Chapel AME Church, Old Manning Road, New Zion, with the Rev. Oliver Davis, pastor, eulogist, and the Rev. Jerome McCray, presiding. Burial followed in Old McFadden Cemetery.

The family received friends at the home of his mother, Mattie Brown McFadden, 1362 Renegade Trail, New Zion.
