Letter to the editor: Disney is extraordinarily well qualified for school board

Posted

Tuesday is election day.  One reason this election is so very important is because the members of the Sumter School Board are being elected.

I would argue the school board election offers one of the most important choices.

Mrs. Bonnie Disney is running for reelection.

Bonnie, or Ms. Disney as her students at Sumter High School called her, spent her career as a teacher.  When she could have retired, become inactive in education, she continued her activities as a consultant working with school districts that were underperforming, helping their professional staffs improve results.  She has served on the S.C. State Board of Education representing Sumter.  She is now serving as chair of the Sumter School Board, an acknowledgement by her fellow board members of the confidence they have in her.

The choice is clear.  Bonnie Disney is extraordinarily well qualified because of her work for many, many years to support our children in our public schools and everywhere children learn and grow.

Please remember the school board election is at the bottom of the election ballot; however, it is at the top of the list of things that will help Sumter advance and grow.

Please vote for Bonnie Disney for reelection to the Sumter School Board.

Retired state senator
