Letter to the editor: Disgusted to see the condition of our post office's American flag

Posted

I am a 26-year retired veteran of the United States Air Force and a citizen of Sumter. My wife went to our post office on Main Street, and when she noticed the deplorable and disgraceful condition of the United States flag along with the POW flag being flown over the post office, she called inside and was passed on to the postmaster of Sumter. When she voiced her concerns, she was told, "Well if you have a flag in your car, we would be glad to put it up."

This is the root of may problems in the nation today; no one cares! For a military community such as Sumter to allow this to happen is sickening. We are asked to take pride in our city; how about our city taking pride in itself and the nation.
